A return to making

Every maker’s story begins with the raw materials that inspire their products – and in this sense, Sanlam Wealthsmiths™ and SHmC makers share the same inherent qualities. Just as Wealthsmiths™ create wealth for our clients, the artisans take raw materials and transform them into something meaningful, valuable and well made in Africa.

‘For the last 100 years, Sanlam has been securing people’s financial futures by turning the raw material of money into long-term prosperity,’ says Trurman Zuma, CEO of Sanlam Solutions. ‘We believe Africa’s artisans share these inherent qualities and we’re proud to give them a platform to reach an audience that appreciates the precious nature of their products.

‘Entrepreneurship is critical to economic growth. The latest Global Entrepreneurship Monitor shows that out of five world regions, Africa feels most positive about entrepreneurship as a good career choice. We need to encourage this positivity by creating the enabling conditions necessary for entrepreneurs to thrive for generations to come. The SHmC is one way to do this.’
