Sanlam Emerging Markets recently congratulated 33 managers from across its African businesses for successfully completing this year’s SEM Leadership Development Programme.
The programme, which aims to enhance the leadership skills of senior managers across SEM’s businesses, was presented by the University of Stellenbosch Business School in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and extended over three study blocks of five days each between January and September.
The delegates were middle and senior managers from SEM’s partner companies in Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Nigeria.
The syndicate groups’ final presentations took place at the Sanlam Investments Auditorium in Tyger Valley, Cape Town, with Team Asante Sana from Zimbabwe emerging as the project winners with their topic ‘An investigation into alternative mass market digital distribution channels to enable Zimnat Group of businesses to better serve customers and increase market share’.
Jaco Venter, Assistant Manager: Established Business at Sanlam Namibia, was the top student in this year’s programme.
‘We’re proud of our 2018 delegates, who approached the programme with great enthusiasm and really made the most of this opportunity to learn and grow,’ says Thobeka Bam, SEM Human Resources Manager.
‘We’re already looking forward to welcoming next year’s group, which will start in February, and we’re hoping to continue with this initiative to further develop and enhance our middle and senior managers’ leadership capabilities.’
